Onsite Workshop-Introduction To Lean

Seminar Highlights

Stuents in Lean seminar

SMP simulation

The Shear Department at SMP is overwhelmed and disorganized prior to the factory organization.

Discussion of Lean Improvements

Discussing possibilities for redesigning the simulated factory.

Lean Manufacturing Introduction

Workshop & Simulation Game

This workshop and simulation game is an ideal introduction to Lean Manufacturing. In it, participants operate a simulated factory and then redesign it with newly learned Lean Manufacturing principles. The participants then operate their new factory to measure, see and experience the results.

The seminar explains basic principles, elements, techniques and how they interact. It provides the emotional and intellectual framework for understanding Lean.

Participants Will Learn...

  • How the core disciplines of Lean Manufacturing eliminate waste.

  • Why inventory plays such a central role.

  • How cellular manufacturing results in less handling, faster throughput, higher productivity and better quality

  • How to design a basic workcell.

  • Why One-Piece Flow is advantageous.

  • SMED and how to setup fast and consistently.

  • Why fast, predictable setups smooth production and reduce inventory.

  • Why work teams and workcells reinforce one another.

  • What teams need for success.

  • How to use Kanban.

  • Why simple, visual kanban often outperforms a  computer.

  • How Six Sigma cuts cost and prevents defects.

  • How Process Improvement Teams reduce cost and increase quality.
